Luis was chosen for a job but on the way saw the opportunity to escape and ask for help. He tried to approach some people, but several avoided helping him out of fear. An employee offered him help and lent him money for the bus. After that odyssey, Luis arrived home and reunited with his family in a countryside house.
"They took us all down... a blonde guy came, approached us and (asked us for our) cell phones," Luis recounts. "Do you know why they are coming?" the man asked them. Upon arriving in Puerto Vallarta, a van was waiting to take them to the training place. Luis wanted to work and have money, but he realized the true reason for the meeting.
During a "course", an Uber took him to a bus station, where he was warned that if they tried to leave, they would be killed. Suddenly, they began destroying phones and cards, leaving them without communication or money. Luis was taken to a safe house, where he was told he would become a hitman.
Luis met "The Commander", a woman described as "attractive" and "strict". He managed to escape with the help of the municipal police and had to move out of fear of reprisals from CJNG. After a series of challenges, he was selected for a "training" in Puerto Vallarta.
At a critical moment, during a stop, Luis gathered courage and escaped. He walked several kilometers until he reached a gas station where he asked for help. His life in captivity involved forced labor and beatings until he was informed about the possibility of becoming a hitman for CJNG at a camp in Zacatecas.
It was the year 2022, and Luis, looking for a job, found an offer that seemed promising. However, he ended up in a nightmare being recruited by CJNG. Living there meant following strict rules, with punishments even for minor mistakes.
Luis recounts the pressure of asking for authorization for everything and the obligation to memorize cartel codes. After a violent "welcome ritual", he began living in a house with other recruits. The daily routine included training and cleaning tasks.
